Altered Rolling Pin

Hi all, welcome to this weeks project for Tsunami Rose.  My chosen Design team project for June was to alter a rolling pin in a shabby chic style.   I have altered many things in my time but never a rolling pin. Lucky for me I had this little cutie in my craft supplies .....

and I have teamed it up with the papers these gorgeous Life Abloom papers  from Tsunami Rose Designs

There were so many gorgeous designs from this collection I had a real hard time deciding which ones to use. To me they all fit with the design brief.  I eventually settled on  two from this journal kit.

and I mixed in a few elements from the Charming Fragments Ephemera Sentiment Cut outs.

I started by giving my rolling pin a couple of coats of gesso and then I dabbed on some Tim Holtz Distress ink in Victorian Velvet.

Once this was done... I resized  my chosen prints to fit my pin, I distressed all the edges and inked them also with Tim Holtz Distress ink in Victorian Velvet.

I sandwiched some strips of cheesecloth between my paper layers and then glued them down with some mod podge.

Whilst this was all drying, I dug through my stash to find some pretty pink flowers and fussy cut some of the elements from the charming fragments Ephemera sheet.  These blended in so well.  I added some pearl beads to the edges and then began layering up all my elements.  My final accent was a sticker I found in my stash that not only blended in with the colours but also with the "Life Abloom" theme. Below are all the pics, including some close ups on the details...

and here is my gorgeously shabby chic altered rolling pin.  I had a great time creating this.  Life's Abloom papers were the perfect choice...As always readers here are all the links for Tsunami Rose Designs.
