Gratitude Journal

Hey everyone today I would like to share with you the beginnings of my gratitude journal. This is my first attempt at making these junk journals, but when I got the New Year New You papers in my Scotties Crafts design team kit, this was the first thing that popped into my head. I plan to create a place to journal every month, everything that I am grateful for.  I hope to include pics and memorabilia along the way.  So I will need to create pockets and hidey - holes to house them!!

I have to give a big shout out to fellow design team member and scrappy bestie Tash....Thank you so much for all your patience and answering all my dumb questions.

I know that doing these freestyle kind of journals for some is easy, but for me, for some reason it was hard.  I think the no rules or boundaries and the "anything goes" was what I found daunting.  However once I got into it, it was lots of fun and somewhat liberating.

I began by gathering bits of everything... you name it, it went in to it!! Cardstock, envelopes, seed packets, tags.  I have also printed out some gratitude journalling tags and sayings.
So guys here is the mess I created .... just gathering stuff!! I ended up using the chipboard as templates for my dividers.
This is my cover so far...I have purposely made it a little short and smaller than the rest of the album...I like the idea of the tabs "hanging out".  I have also made the lace and twine trimming a little bit long to add a bit of shabbiness!

I have also cut up and used the tags and cut outs that came with the papers.  Alot of these go with my "Gratitude" theme very well and I my plan is to use heaps of them through out the journal.

So as you can tell from the above pictures I still have a wee way to go.  I have lots of inking, stamping and journal-ling to add.  Not to mention the binding...guess I better stop chatting with you all and get back to it!!  See you all next week!!  Oh before I go... please go check out Scottie Crafts huge range of scrapbooking supplies.  Adrienne and the girls are always more than happy to help you out!!

A couple of Cards

Hey there everyone, I hope all my Aussie readers are enjoying the Australia Day long weekend.   I am back again today to share a couple of cards I created for Mad About Scrappin.  You may remember the sketch I used a few posts back for the January Sketch Challenge....
It was this one....
Well I thought that I could use it as a map or sketch for some cards.  I went really well with the first card...stuck to the layout as much as possible.  I only flipped it 90 degrees or so!!

But....... I totally lost the plot when I got to my second card :)  It seemed to have a mind all of it's own!!

I have used some scraps leftover from my Mad About Scrappin November design team kit.  These papers are from My Minds Eye - The Sweetest Thing collection. In the first card  I have used some chipboard flowers, white lace and ribbon. For the second card I have used one of my Tattered Crocheted blooms and a pink doily.
I would just like to remind you all to head  over to the Mad About Scrappin Blog on the 1st of February as we launch the new Blog Challenges.

There are some gorgeous prize packs being offered for the New Blog Sketch Challenge and I wanted to share them with you all!!  There will be 2 prizes. One will be voted on by the Creative Team and there will be one random draw winner.  So please be sure to hop on over and check them out!!  Remember readers you've got to be in it to win it!!

New Year New You Layout - by Kimi

G'day everyone, back again and this time I have a layout to share with you all.
I have used the  Websters Pages - New Year New You Collection -  Personal Growth Double Sided Paper.
I created my banners from the Double Sided Paper - Today is the Start and added some of the sentiment banners from the Be Inspired sheet along with the mini cutouts from the 6x6 paper pad.  I have added an altered paperclip from a swap; a metal butterfly from my stash and lace also from my stash

These gorgeous bright flowers are from Prima....I sooooooooooo wanted to hoard these, but they compliment the papers so well I just had to use them.  These are from Paquita Azeala collection and they are just GORGEOUSSSSSSSSSSSS.

My final touches were a rub on from my stash and I adorned each corner with some enamel dots from My Minds Eye.

Well readers that is it - another quickie.  I am still in holiday mode...only one more week left and I will be back in my craft room full time again...Sooo all I can say is watch this space!

Shabby Chic Wall Hanging

Hello again readers, today I am back with a product share for Mad About Scrappin.  I have created a shabby chic wall hanging from these three mini canvas boards.
Sorry guys I don't really have any process photos.  I have used more of the Kaisercraft 6.5 x 6.5 paper pad On This Day. These papers are so soft and subtle I have loved working with them.  Please be sure to check out the Mad About Scrappin shop to see the current range of Kaisercraft in stock.  I have covered each of my little boards with co-ordinating papers. Each little board measures 4x4.  So the hanger is quite small - but long!!

I have used paper roses and forget me knots to decorate the "top" corner.  It is layered on some white lace and a piece of applique from my stash.  I have added some bling and pearl trim.  The rub on is an oldie from Kaisercraft.
In the second panel I have matted a photo and added more of the same bling. I used more of the Kaisercraft rub-ons and a cutout that you find in the back of the 6.5 x 6.5 paper pads. I finished of the bottom with more of the white lace and pearl trim.
My last panel has another saying rub on from Kaisercraft; pearl trim; white lace; seam binding bow; paper roses and forget me knots and another piece of applique.
I have strung or hung all my panels onto some white seam binding and added bow to the top.
It is a little hard to photograph... but I have some more close ups for you ...

Please be sure to check out the Mad About Scrappin Shop and come join us for Flog it Friday on Facebook...just like the page to be apart of all the fun.  Oh and don't forget to follow the blog!!

Cards by Kimi

Hey everyone, I am back today with a quick card share. I am currently playing with the gorgeous papers New Year New You from Websters Pages.  This is my current design team kit from Scottie Crafts.

These papers are just sooooo gorgeous and the colours have a bright summery feel to them.  Just perfect for my neck of the woods as we are in our summer season down here.

For the card above I have used  papers from the 6x6 paper pad and the  Memory Box Grand Madison French Doors craft die.   I fussy cut one of the cutouts from the Double Sided Paper - Path of Happiness and placed it behind the window.  I have added some lace, twine, Prima flowers and the Memory Box Garden Sprig craft die to embellish my card.
My next card was created using some more of the 6x6 paper pad.  I have layered a paper doily with a cotton one from my stash.  I covered some chipboard hearts and adhered them with some hot glue.  I have used some candy pink twine and wrapped it around the patterned paper.  I added some loops and  an enamel dot from My Minds Eye to fashion a bow of sorts.  The flowers are from my stash and the sentiment comes from the 6x6 cutouts. I just love how shabby it turned out!!

Well guys that's my lot for this week.  Another short n sweet post for you. I am still in holiday mode at the moment.  I am rarely in my craft room these days as we are out and about enjoying our Australian summer!! It's just toooo nice to be indoors!!

Thank you for stopping by and sharing some of your time with me.

January Sketch challenge - Mad About Scrappin

Hey readers I am back today to share with you all  Mad About Scrappins January Sketch challenge.  This sketch is from Anne Patterson and was just so do-able!!

This is my take....I managed to actually stick to the sketch this time round....well almost I only shifted one element!!

I have used My Minds Eye - The Sweetest Thing - Honey/Perfect papers.  I actually received these papers in my first design team kit and have been dying to use them.  I was just waiting for the right project to come along.    From a second sheet I have fussy cut the lovely big red cabbage roses and layered them underneath my photo...I have also used the strip from along the bottom of the papers to create a banner along with a couple of those gorgeous lillies you can find here.  My mats are cut from the reverse of Honey Perfect and the revers of Honey/One of a Kind.  I have added a bottle cap with a one inch punch out from the paper scraps.

I hope you enjoy my take on the sketch.  Be sure to check out the Mad About Scrappin Blog to see what the rest of the talented  team create with this sketch.
Thanks for stopping by.....

Happiness Layout

Hello bloggers I am back and I have another layout to share with you all this week.  O M GOOSSSH guys I have created more layouts in the last month than I have in a year!! Can you believe that??  I think I have said once or twice before that I don't do layouts. Well I am thinking I can't say that anymore.

Today's layout is created from more of the Garden Party Stack by DCWV an oldie but a goodie,  right?  I have taken the really pretty light aqua sheet with the Butterfly print and used it as my base.  I then added some of the brown prints to it.  I know that is kinda vague, but it is really hard guys to describe these papers when they have no name on them. I will do my best.  I have cut a strip from the brown glittered paper that is 4"x12" and a 2"x12" strip from the border print sheet and teamed them up to create the bottom half of the page.   I then cut a large mat from the brown and blue Argyle type print.  I than added my photo mat.  I added some greenery using the Fresh Foliage Memory Box die....did I tell you guys how much I love these dies?.

My flower layers are a mix of paper and silk.  In the centre of the large flower I have used a sticker from the pad and a glass cabochon. To finish off  I have tucked in a little love bingo card.
These cute little tags I have tucked in here are also from the paper pad and I have added some word rubons from my November Kaisercraft Tea Break Collection.  I still can't believe how well they matched.
My last embellishment was to add the Vivienne butterfly from Memory Box ....I loved how this filigree looked on my baby girl layout and decided to use it again.  Except this time in blue

and that readers is my project for this week.  Please stop by Scottie Crafts, check out their collection of Memory Box dies....I fully recommend them to you all.  They are easy to work with, no hassles in cutting - even if your cutting plates and pads aren't the newest  - like mine.  If you can't find what you are looking for be sure to message the girls and they will help you.

Altered Wooden Frame Earring Hanger

Firstly HAPPY NEW YEAR to you all.  I hope everyone had a fabulous time and you have all recuperated. I look forward to sharing my creations with you throughout 2014.

Today I have a bit of a product share from Mad About Scrappin.  I have altered an old wooden photo frame that I had stuck away in my stash into a Shabby Chic Earring Hanger. I totally lifted this idea from my scrapping bestie is a links to hers!! Just delish!!

Sooo my frame started out looking something like this....

I  gave it a couple of coats of gesso and  a layer of Kaisercrafts Pink Acrylic paint.  Once it was all thoroughly dry I applied some Kaisercraft crackle medium and waited for about three hours before applying the final coat of white acrylic paint.

I have used some shabby pink floral fabric from my sewing stash.  I have used some lovely curly roses and forget me knots  along with one of my Tattered Chic Crochet Bloom.  I have used some white lace and pearl trim to create the strips to tuck my earrings into.
Here is a nice close up on my corner flower cluster.  Totally addicted to doing this matter how hard I try - I always find myself starting in the corner!!!...I have added a stickpin I recently received in a RAK from Tash.

Well readers that is my Mad About Scrappin Project share.  Please be sure to  like the facebook page and also check out the shop
