~Colour Challenge~

Hello everyone.  I hope you all had a wonderful christmas and got lots of scrappy pressies.  Not long now and 2014 will be upon us. Well as you know it is Monday and I am here to share with you all my last project for The Shabby Tea Rooms.  My time here has been fleeting.  Everyone was so sweet and helpful.  I want to send a special thanks to Debbie for such a wonderful opportunity.

This week is #199 ~ Colour Challenge.  Our colours were black, kraft and cream.  I have to say some of my favourite and when you mix them together they make a stunning combination.  Our inspiration pic from Debbie was......

......and here is my creation...a card!!  I have used black cardstock as my card base and added a slightly smaller layer of Kraft card stock.

I then used Prima Printery papers for the cream background.  I heavily distressed the edges with my scissors and inked all the edges with Tim Holtz Walnut Stain Distress inks.

I have hand made my paper flowers from some cream card stock and a five petal flower svg that I cut with my older version of the Cricut.  I have used Tea Dye distress ink to get the colour.  I have layered them on top of some tea dyed seam binding, twine and some eyelash fibre. Underneath the flower layer I have a strip of Kraft card stock that I have added some lace and stamped strip of calico that was sent to me in RAK from my friend Chrissie.  The leaves have been cut from the Fresh Foliage Memory box die.

This is my last post for the wonderfully creative team at The Shabby Tea Rooms.  I have thoroughly enjoyed my time there and I hope you have all enjoyed my projects.  Once again Debbie thank you so much for this wonderful opportunity.

Have a safe and wonderful New Year everyone and ....

Butterfly Card

I've never really considered myself a 'card maker', I feel there are many many talented ladies out there that can easily claim that title! That being said, I  have recently been putting the odd card or two together. This week I have what I call a very simple and easy card to share with you all aaaaannnnndddd it took hardly any time at all to create.  Even I managed to get this done in a morning....and I spend ages agonising over what papers to use.  Well today that task was simple....DCWV Garden Party!!  I have gone with the brown and orange/pink papers that are in this stash.  I love how they go together.

I haven't cheated this time readers, I have created my card base from some off white cardstock from my stash.  I have cut it to measure 4.5" x 11.5" and scored it in half.
I have then cut my layers 1/4" smaller each time.
I then gathered some embellishments....Chocolate Seam binding;mulberry paper flower; some strips from the leftovers; even some buttons which went by the wayside...

I guess, I begin at the top of the card and work my way down.  I have tied a bow with the seam binding and gave the mulberry paper flower a spray with Lindy's stamp gang Ramblin rose pink.  I hot glued these together and then to the layered paper strips. I have used a pair of pretty edging scissors to create the lacey bottom of the brown strip.
I found that the sentiment stickers from  Kaisercrafts Tea Break  Alpha Sticker Sheet went perfectly with these papers. Here I have cut one of the long sticker strips in two and layered them onto the brown DCWV papers.

I have used the two butterfly dies from Memory Box - Darla Butterfly for the base and Vivienne Butterfly for the filigree top.

So now we have reached the bottom of my card and the second half of the sticker sentiment.  I have layered this up on some little leftovers of the two papers and I saved the lacey offcut from the top strip and stuck it along the bottom of the card.

I hope you have enjoyed my very simple card and  I have inspired you to give it a try :)

*MERRY CHRISTMAS*

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!!  I know there is still a few days till Christmas, but this is my last post till after Christmas day.  I hope you all have a safe and wonderful day with your loved ones.

So now....to my shabby share with you all for today.  Yes !1 It is that time of the week again and everyone in The Shabby Tea Rooms have been madly creating for you all.  This week our theme was ~ A Few Of My Favourite Winter Things~ and were to create using buttons, silver, white and a snowflake.  This was our inspiration pic from Debbie.

......and this was my creative interpretation.
One of my favourite winter things is candles....love to snuggle up on the couch and have a few lovely scented candles burning around me whilst I watch a movie.
I have used many layers to create this - not that you can really see them all from these photos.  Istarted with a torn strip of cheese cloth as my base.  I pinned this to my candle.  I then glued some white lace and ribbon around the candle.  I added the beaded pearl trim and some silver ribbon.  For my flower centre I used a sizzix snowflake die and wet embossed it with some glitter and utee.

I added some organza ribbon bows in silver and white.  I attached a button to these with a few tiny stitches and then hot glued them to the candle. I added a white rosebud and two silver berries from a Christmas Berry Pick decoration.

I finished it off with three little Mother of Pearl buttons across the back of the candle.

That is all from me this week.  Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have all been popping into the Shabby Tea Rooms to say hi!! and to see what other wonderful creations the ladies have there for you to feast upon

One this Day - Wedding Mini Album

Hello Everyone...I just wanted to wish your all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year....

Today I want to share with you all my little coaster mini album.  I have used Kasiercrafts "On this Day" 6.5" paper pad and various collectables from my stash.
I started with some raw round Kaisercraft wooden coasters.  I have had these in my stash for a few years now.  It is great to be finally using some of my hoarded supplies.
I painted all the raw edges with some white gesso and the covered them.
The front cover is adorned with a paper doily.  I have inked the edges with some Tim Holtz Tattered Rose ink and then layered it with some bling flourishes and a small Kaisercraft collectables banner.  I have used some of the scalloped white lace; a small white crocheted flower and some gorgeous paper curly roses and a couple of the tiny Forget Me Not flowers .  I have tied some seam binding to the rings to soften the edges and hide the rings a little.
The photo's I have used are mini passport sized.
Well readers, I am sorry that it so short n sweet again this week, but the photos really do all the talking for me.

Please take care over the festive season....stay safe and I look forward to seeing you all again soon.
Till then remember to .....

Baby Girl Layout

Hello again everyone. I have a layout to share with you all today and it from more of those lovely papers from DCWV - Garden Party Stack.  I know this is a relatively "old" stack, but still very usuable.  I really enjoyed working with the lovely bright colours and prints.

I have used a green page from the paper pad as the base for my layout.  I then cut the pretty print to 6" x 12" and from the co-ordinatng apricot/pink I punched them with my fiskars border punch.
I saved the two "offcuts" and used them to border on the top of the printed strip, whilst the larger lacey edge went to the bottom .
I then layered this on to my green base.
I added a thin white lace between the two apricot pink strips.
I then began the layering process.   I have used some of the American Crafts ribbon from my November kit and also one of the little plastic doilies.  The words are from Kaisercraft - Tea Break Sticker sheet.  I couldn't believe my luck when I saw how well they matched these papers.  The butterfly is cut from some scraps of glossy photo paper using the Memory Box die - "Vivenne Butterfly".
The leaves are cut from the DCWV stack using the Sonora Rose and the finer spray is cut using Fresh Foliage.  I am really loving these dies.  They cut perfectly every time and the Fresh Foliage is just so versatile

Here are few pics of the finer details ......

Well readers that's my lot for this week.  Thanks again for joining me in this festive season.  Hope you are having a merry time..

Sweet Christmas

G'day Everyone it is Monday and I am back to share with you this weeks project for The Shabby Tea Rooms blog.  Our brief this week was really quite simple...to create a card using red, white, gingham and gingerbread!!

And our inspiration pic was.....
Don't they look so yummy hanging there?  I know these wouldn't last very long at all in my house!

Here is my Sweet Christmas card.  I had a hard time finding the gingham paper, so I googled gingham backgrounds and up came a heap that I could print for free.
I inserted one of these free images into a word document and then re-sized it to fit my card base.  I have done the same with subway sign.  I layered both up on some plain white card stock  to make them stand out a little more.   The cute little gingerbread man comes from this years Kaisercraft Christmas collection - Gingerbread.  I have added some red pearls for buttons and hand made his little bow tie from some fine red gingham ribbon.  I have used some extra small  black rhinestones for his eyes.  I topped off his bow tie with another of the red pearls.  My bow is made from some hand dyed seam binding and I have added a border down the side with some more of the seam binding and white lace.

That is my share this week.  I love how my card turned out and I hope you do too.  Please be sure to pop on over to The Shabby Tea Rooms and see what the other designers have created for you this week.

Mad About Scrappin Layout Challenge!!

I have created a layout for this months Challenge over at Mad About Scrappin.  This month everyone is a winner!! Check out the details below!!

So here is my take on Anne's sketch.  I tried hard to stick to the sketch.... I really did!! I only changed a few things up and moved a few about!!

I added too gorgeous Lillies from the store and a curly paper rose!

Don't forget guys, you got to be in it to win it!! So have your take on the December  Sketch Challenge loaded to the facebook page by 20th December to be eligible for the giveaway.
