Just a little something....

Hey everyone, well as most of you probably know I have been rather busy with creating and posting for Scottie Crafts design team.  Well today I am here to post about some of my creations that I have done for me.... I will try and make several smaller posts rather than one long epic read.  Today I want to share with you all my altered dress form.

I have had this idea floating about in my head for a few weeks now, it was finding the time to make it and now that I have made one I want to make some more!! I reckon they would make a unique Christmas gift.

I started out with a couple of thick poster board die cuts from the Tim Holtz die; a wooden cotton spool; a wooden skewer and an old mini CD.

I covered the dress form pieces with Kaisercrafts "The Lakehouse" collection.

and then defined the bodice shape with some pearls
Unfortunately this is where the photo's stop till I get it all together and start playing around with the layout.  A few of the steps that I forgot to photograph are.....

I took the wooden skewer and whittled - is that the right word whittled?? well I whittled one end to thin it out and flatten it so that it would fit between the two pieces of poster board easier.  Plus giving a flat surface for gluing.  I waited 24 hours for this to dry.  I wanted to be sure that the glue had well n truly set.  Whilst I was waiting I covered the CD base with "Relax" and "Springs"  papers from "The Lakehouse" Collection. I then added two layers of lace and some pearl trim to finish off the edge.
I also gave my spools a couple of coats of gesso.  Once they were dry I wrapped them in fabric, lace and ribbon.
Once my dressform was dry, I added strips of pink seam binding, lace, ribbon and pearl trim.

I have decorated the base with various mulberry paper flowers, a button, some leftovers of a pearl flourish; a simple stickpin and a butterfly

I have covered the bottom and added some wooden beads as feet.
Here a couple of pics from different angles.

I really enjoyed creating this.  It was great to get back to some using some pink! and making something for myself.

Thanks for stopping by....
