. . . .Oh Wowwww. . . . .

. . . . I am back . . . . . and so soon!!  Well as promised here I am with my journal/mini that fits just perfectly inside my altered or "re-thunk" gum box.   I was totally inspired by Steff at Steffogal1 on youtube.  Steff did a fantastic tutorial on how to make a quick 'n' easy journal out of one piece of 12"x12" paper. It really did work up super easy and was super fast to scrap too . . . .I think the hardest part was choosing papers!!   I adapted her "pattern" and made mine from one piece of A4 cream coloured cardstock and it measured 3" x 11" .

So here it is . . . . .

Let me know what think . . . leave a comment . . . .love to read your thoughts!!

Keep an eye out for the gum box template coming soon.  I will blog about it and leave a link in my template tab under my banner . . .

Once again thank you all so much for dropping by. . . . come scrap with me on fb . . . stop by and leave a comment . . . . let me know you called.
  Have a scrappy happy day . . . . .

Okaaaayyyyy . . . . .

 . . . . . . I am back . . . .I didn't get very far with the cleaning.

                                                      . . . . . . .can't you tell :)

It was far more appealing to come back here and share with you all my creation/s for this week.  There are two parts to my project and I promise that as soon as I have cleared up enough space to take some pics of the second half I will be back to share it with you.

Now for the first half . . . . . . I took one of these little gum boxes . . . . . . .

. . . . . . and I "re-thunk" it.

As you can see I gently pulled it apart so that it retained it's shape.  I then scanned the flattened box and inserted the image or JPG into a word document.  Once I had it in word I could re-size it....so I dragged it out  to as far as I could on A4 paper - adjusting all my margins as I went!  The finished size {opened up} was 8 1/4" x 8 3/4".  This then became my template and I reprinted the traced shape out onto some cream A4 cardstock.

I then began the agonising decision of what to cover my "re-thunk" gum box with.  I finally settled on a mix of Prima's "Romantique"  and "Pixie Glen" collections.  I have used a magnet to keep the flap closed.  Embellished the flap with mulberry flowers; some pearl stamen; recollections bling; pearl trim, lace and ribbon.  Not really sure if it falls into the category of "shabby chic" but it sure looks pretty, don't you think? I am really lovin how it turned out!!

Here is the back view

and here are the two boxes, side by side, just so you can see the size difference...

and finally just a couple of close ups on the details....

The completed size of my "re-thunk" gum box is 5 1/2" long x 3" high and about half an inch thick
. . . . .just the perfect size to fit a little "something"  in don't you think :)

. . . . . . . I promise to be back real soon with part b of my Shabby chic gum box project.
Thanks so much for stopping by . . . . . .
please leave a comment . . . . I always love to hear what you think

......Love and blessing to you all

PS:    Don't forget to come join me on facebook

Feelin' a li'l Shabby . . . . . .

. . . . . Shabby chic that is!!  I have been on a bit of a roll these past few weeks . . . . a real creative one!!  I rarely do shabby chic.  Can never seem to manage it or pull it off very successfully . . . that is . . . till now!!  It actually all started with my paper flowers....they were coming out so shabby looking that it inspired me to create something shabby chic to keep them in, but what??? . . . . . then at 3am one morning it hit me!!   MILK CARTONS!!!  yep, milk cartons . . . little shabby chic ones!!  Each milk carton would be colour matched to the flowers it would hold and this is how they turned out......

I found a freebie SVG file that I adapted by adding the little window and cut them on my Cricut!!  I have used some scraps from Graphic 45 Baby to Bride papers....I just love these papers.  They are so soft and feminine...perfect for creating shabby chic!!...The butterflies are ones I have hand crocheted; the paper flowers are the smallest of the paper flower sets I create.  The tags are from the collection and the bling is from Recollections.  I have added a scalloped circle to the top, just for some protection on the cardstock edges and also a little more embellishing.  The cartons are held closed with some mini clips that have been accented with seam binding......

BUT WAIT......THERE'S MORE......

I got so caught up in the shabbiness of it all that I created these...

I downloaded the 3D Letters from SVGCUTS and created these!!  I just love them.  The files are really easy to use and go together pretty quickly.  My letters are only about 5.5" tall and about an inch or so wide. These were cut from the Extra's file for 6x12 mat users and the different files or pieces fitted perfectly on A4 cardstock.  The papers I have used are Grant Archivals "Grace Taylor ~ Vintage" . . . they were perfect for the shabby chic look I was creating and best of all they were pink . . . you can never go wrong with pink!!.  The flowers are mulberry paper flowers that I buy from an ebay seller here in Australia and all the bling is from Recollections.

There is one more project to come . . . . but I have to clean my room so that I can  photograph it . . . . Hopefully I will be back with you all soon....
 . . . . . . . as always
. . . . . . love and blessings to you all

PS: No prizes for guessing who the "E" is for  ???   . . . . .

*** Stars 'n' Stripes ***

Happy 4th July to all my American friends, family and scrappy sisters!!  Hope you all have a wonderful and safe day!!  Well the Pride have all been busy scrapping and creating away in their dens for you all. welcome to our "mini" blog hop.... We have all been on the prowl for some creative designs for you to sink your teeth into!!  Our theme was stars n stripes.....and without any further ado here they are....

My first project is an easel card ~ a vintage Americana easel card.

For this project I have used some digi papers that I downloaded from http://www.mymemories.com. I just loved all of the papers that were in this digi collection and they fitted so well with what I saw in my minds eye :).

The images I have used are freebies from http://sweetlyscrappedart.blogspot.com. I have also create two rosettes from some scraps of Kaisecraft ~ "Squadron" that co-ordinated purrrfectly. I have added some wooden buttons which I painted a rustic red and some red bakers twine.

My second project is something a little different, not 4th July, but still keeping in the stars n stripes theme.  I have used a Kaisercraft collection from a few years back, called "Squadron".  I have been hoarding this for the longest time!! This little pocket size mini is folded from one A4 or 8"x 11" piece of paper.  You can find the tutorial for this over on Sandy's blog at Sandy's Space  I would be more than happy to show how I adapted Sandy's tutorial to make mine.
I glued my pages to create 6 mini pockets, each pocket measures approximately 2" x 3" and is just big enough to mat a mini wallet sized photo on. I cut some tags on my cricut and they are also matted with photos. There is not a lot of real estate for embellishments or lumpy scrapping :( {which is something I struggled with} but it is a great quick gift idea or school holiday project!! It is definitely all about the photo's.  I filled mine with random pics of my three sons throughout the years!!   If you are interested in a tutorial on my take of this mini, please leave a comment and I'll see what I can do!!

Well there you have it there are my projects for July 4th celebrations....hope you all have a safe and wonderful day and enjoy all the fireworks tonight!!

Thanks so much for prowling  with me....I hope you enjoyed my purrfect creations ;)...please pounce on over to  Suzie.  If you have stumbled upon this post by accident...please head back to  Elsa at JustafewDesigns  so that you won't miss any of the Dens creative scrappiness.  Here is a list of all the Dens for you to prowl through.....
