Strut Your Style

Hi everyone and welcome once again to another Pride Prowl!! This month our theme was "Strut your Style" and it was all about our style of scrapping....our comfort zone even....  So I kinda got to thinking you know, what is my style?  and I would say I have an eclectic style ~ is that the right word? I do a bit of this a bit of that. I tend to go with wherever my mood, the papers or the project take me....It was a little difficult to reign it all into one definitive style. However, having said that I love to alter and repurpose "things"....change em up...redefine the use or look and make them all preeeetttty.  I also like to make ~ construct ~ things; like vintage suitcases :).  My projects this week encompass all of the above!! But first before we get down to business I wanna share my cute little lioness that Cub Brother Rj sent us....This little lioness or lion is to become like our mascot and our challenge from Rj was to create, decorate and transform her/him ~ make it our own......so here is mine.

So here I am "Strutting my Style"  ;) I have taken two Kaisercraft wooden projects and combined them to make my desk calendar and clock.  These wooden projects are fairly old now....I think I bought them back in 2009.  So they could even be discontinued, I am not sure. The papers I have used are those yummy Kaisercraft "Miss Match" collection and the diecuts are from the same paper range.  The flowers are just some from my stash and the bling I believe is some from recollections.

I painted the MDF with a pale yellow-y pink, then applied a layer of crackle medium to that and then finished it off with some Antique White.  Around the base is some small pearl bead trim, ribbon and lace.

Hidden underneath this pretty lace frill I have added some wooden feet, just to give it some height so that the lace sat nicely.

My second project....the stacked books!!  OMG I totally fell in love with these when I first saw Miranda from MsLiberty25 on youtube show us her creations for the IAMROSES Design Team Challenge.  Being a little lazy and probably taking the easy way out, I slipped up to my local St Vincent DePaul store and grabbed 3 hardcover books of varying sizes and thicknesses.

When I got them home I cut the centres out of them so that I was left with the shell or cover only.  I then pulled out of my hoard vault the Graphic 45 "Playtimes Past" collection that has been sitting in there since.....FOREVER lol....naaaaaaaaaah not really only since 2009 or so.  I created my ribbon and flowers from some black gingham fabric I had in my stash and layered it up with some sheer fabric to add a little shabbiness.

These super cute little scrabble tiles are from a travel scrabble game we used to have, but alas my boys have all grown now and this no longer gets any use.....so I am "re-purposing" all those little vinyl tiles.  The only thing is they don't take dyes or inks so I was unable to age them.
Here is a close up of my tiny little bottle that I filled with some tiny little seed beads....and guess what no spills YAAAAAAAAAAAAY!!

This is what the back of the books look like.  I have created a draw to house a flip mini album that I plan to make with the left over papers.  Look out for that one on Youtube....I have finally been convinced to give a tutorial!!
well everyone there you have.....there are my projects for this month.  I sure hope you have enjoyed them as much as I did creating them.  Now if you could just prowl on over to Suzies Den of Scrappiness to see her strut her style.  If you have happened  to randomly stumble across this post, then please pounce on over to Elsa's blog and prowl along with us all. Listed below are Dens for prowling pleasure.  Please be sure to pounce on over and leave them some love.
