~*-:¦:-*~Happy Australia Day~*-:¦:-*~

To all my fellow Aussies out there.........
~*-:¦:-*~Happy Australia Day~*-:¦:-*~
WooooHoooo!!

I hope you all have a very enjoyable one whatever you do!!   Just remember to slip, slop slap when you're out and about in our great outdoors....Watch out today.... it is going to be hot hot HOT! wherever you are in this great country of ours!!

I have a real quick project that I worked on yesterday afternoon!!  It was tooooooooo hot to be outside, but unfortunately it was just as hot in my craft space!!  So I cranked the fan up a notch or two and scrapped a wooden plaque.   You may have noticed this in my last post....it was one of my "to do" projects.  So here it is all painted and ready to hang on our kitchen wall.

Altered Wooden Plaque

I don't know about you guys, but we always seem to be misplacing our keys!!  So now we have a place to hang them!!  I just have to remember to use it and not throw mine into the bottom of my handbag!!! ;))  Some of the steps I followed to do this quick project were to:

Paint the edges with some "Indian Red" acrylic paint

Then to cut some patterned paper to cover the front of the plaque.  Here I have used a piece from "daisyd's"....I'm not real sure if this is still available, as I have had it in my stash for about two years now!!  I then glued this down with Plaids Mod Podge Gloss Lustre.

Whilst this was drying....- which mind you didn't take long in my hot scraproom -..... I quickly painted up some chipboard letters and then applied Plaids Royalcoat Dimensional Magic...to give the letters a great thick glossy dimension and some durablity!

I went back and gave the plaque a few extra coats of Mod Podge for protection!!  After all this had dried, I began embellishing it....I have used a Mulberry paper flower, which I had sprayed with some homemade coppery glimmermist....I dried it  with my heat gun to get the colours and the burnt edges effect!! I really loved how this turned out as it blended perfectly with the papers!!  I then glued into place some red/burgandy gingham and lace trim. After this was down I placed the flower; some silk leaves and a small pearl spray and hot glued them all into place!! and "voila!!!" all done!!  I just love how it turned out!!

Just before I go....I just wanted to say a big thank you to all for your comments on my new, re-vamped blog.....I greatly appreciate them aaaaaaaannnnnnnnnnndddddd and extra big BIG  Thank you to my good friend Elsa from JustafewDesigns for designing the wonderful banner you now see!!  Thank you so much Elsa!!  You ROCK gurl!!!

Well that's it from me for today...I am off to enjoy Australia Day.....Have fun everyone....
Wherever you and whatever you!!!
Cheers!!!
